From the opening faceoff at Canada Life Centre, the Jets took control of the game. They established an early lead with two goals in the first period and maintained their dominance throughout. The team's shooting accuracy was on full display as they converted 20 percent of their shots into goals, outshining the Wild's 8 percent shooting success rate.

The home team's powerplay unit proved to be particularly effective, capitalizing on two of their four opportunities. This special teams success was mirrored by their penalty kill unit which denied all powerplay chances for Minnesota while also scoring twice when shorthanded. The Jets' goaltender played a pivotal role in this aspect, making nine saves during shorthanded situations and finishing with an impeccable save percentage.

Winnipeg's offense was firing on all cylinders as they amassed six goals and eleven assists over three periods. Their final goal came from an empty netter that sealed the win late in the third period. In contrast to their rivals who struggled to find consistency in faceoffs winning only 53 percent compared to Winnipeg’s more balanced performance.

Defensively, both teams were evenly matched with each recording six penalties for a total of eighteen penalty minutes; however, it was Winnipeg’s ability to capitalize on these situations that made the difference. Additionally, both teams were aggressive without possession as evidenced by nearly equal hits - twenty-six for Winnipeg and twenty-seven for Minnesota.
