The Jets opened the scoring in the first period but were unable to maintain their lead as they ended up trailing by two goals at its conclusion. The second period saw no additional points from Winnipeg while New York capitalized on their opportunities, extending their lead by another three goals. The third period witnessed a resurgence from Winnipeg as they managed to put two more pucks past New York's goaltender but it wasn't enough to turn the tide of the game.

Winnipeg's offense took 35 shots on goal and found success three times throughout play. Despite this effort, their shooting percentage stood at nine percent compared to New York's fifteen percent efficiency; they scored six goals from 39 shots. The Jets' powerplay had one opportunity which resulted in four shots but failed to convert into any goals.

On faceoffs, Winnipeg won only twenty-four out of fifty-nine attempts resulting in a forty-one percent win rate for them against fifty-nine percent for New York. In terms of physicality, both teams recorded an equal number of hits with twenty-two each. However, giveaways and takeaways painted a different picture: while Winnipeg gave away possession five times and took it back five times as well, New York had eight giveaways but claimed possession eleven times.

Defensively speaking for Winnipeg, there were thirty-three saves made by their goaltender over sixty minutes; however six goals slipped through which ultimately led to his credit for loss despite saving all thirty-three even-strength shots he faced.
