Gunnar Henderson

Gunnar Henderson (born June 29, 2001, in Montgomery, Alabama) is a left-handed hitting MLB infielder who throws right and has primarily played shortstop. Listed at 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds, he wears No. 2 and attended Morgan Academy (Alabama). Henderson was selected in the 2nd round of the 2019 draft (pick 1 of the round) and made his MLB debut on August 31, 2022. In his first regular-season action (34 games), he hit .259 with a .348 OBP, .788 OPS, and 4 home runs in 116 at-bats. In 2023, he posted 28 home runs with an .814 OPS and 82 RBI across 150 games. His 2024 season featured a power jump to 37 home runs, along with a .281 average, .364 OBP, .893 OPS, and 92 RBI over 159 games; Statcast data from that season shows a 92.8 mph average launch speed and an average home run distance of 399 feet. In 2025, he recorded 154 games with a .274 average, .787 OPS, 17 home runs, 68 RBI, and 30 stolen bases. He also appeared for Team USA in the 2026 WBC, batting .400 with a 1.267 OPS in 15 at-bats.
