Their two-point shooting was particularly effective, hitting 62 percent from inside the arc. The team also demonstrated good ball distribution with 17 assists and maintained a positive assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.89.

However, it wasn't just offense where they excelled; defensively they managed to block four shots and steal five times from their opponents. This balanced approach helped them secure victory despite being outrebounded by one board overall.

The previous game against Radford Highlanders was tighter, ending in a narrow loss for West Virginia with only one point difference. Despite shooting well from two-point range (52 percent), they struggled beyond the arc at just 19 percent three-point shooting accuracy. They'll need to improve on this aspect as well as on capitalizing second-chance points where they scored ten compared to Radford's eleven.

Against UMass Minutemen earlier in December, while playing away from home, West Virginia showed resilience by overcoming an eight-point halftime deficit but ultimately fell short by eight points themselves. Their three-point shooting improved dramatically to 45 percent but was offset by lower two-point (36 percent) and overall field goal percentages (40 percent). They also gave up more turnovers than usual which could be an area of concern going into the next game.
