Tom Cosgrove

Tom Cosgrove (born June 14, 1996, in Staten Island, New York) is a left-handed relief pitcher whose MLB work has come primarily out of the bullpen. A product of Monsignor Farrell High School, he played college baseball at Manhattan and was selected in the 12th round of the 2017 draft (pick 3). In his MLB debut season in 2023 (debut date: April 29, 2023), Cosgrove logged 54 relief appearances and 51.1 innings with a 1.753 ERA and a 0.974 WHIP. His underlying run metrics included a 3.703 FIP, 44 strikeouts against 18 walks, and a .173 opponent batting average with a .270 OBP. He also recorded one save and seven holds, allowing three home runs (0.522 HR/9). Statcast pitch data from that season shows a four-seam fastball averaging 92.0 mph, a sinker averaging 91.0 mph, and a slider averaging 76.2 mph, with slider spin around 2672 rpm.
