On December 24th against the Brooklyn Nets, despite scoring an impressive 115 points and shooting at a commendable field goal percentage of 49 percent, they were outplayed by the Nets who led for over 42 minutes and secured a win with 126 points. The Pistons showed resilience in their offense with a true shooting percentage of 63 percent but struggled defensively, allowing the Nets to score frequently in the paint.

In another matchup on December 22nd against Utah Jazz at Little Caesars Arena, Detroit displayed similar patterns. They put up a valiant fight scoring 111 points but ultimately fell short as Utah took advantage with better ball control and fewer turnovers. The Jazz's efficiency game score stood tall at 107.7 compared to Detroit's lower yet respectable score of 85.4.

However, it wasn't all doom and gloom for DET when they faced Atlanta Hawks on December 19th; despite losing by six points in an offensive showdown that ended with a high-scoring affair (130-124), there were positive takeaways for Detroit fans. The team showed its potential by maintaining an effective field goal percentage above average (56 percent) and converting second-chance opportunities into valuable points (22).

Looking ahead to their encounter with POR, it is crucial for DET to tighten up defensively while maintaining their offensive output if they wish to stand any chance against Portland's formidable lineup.
