In an intense matchup at the Smoothie King Center, the Houston Rockets were unable to secure victory against a formidable New Orleans Pelicans squad. Despite their efforts and maintaining possession for nearly five minutes of game time, the Rockets fell short as they struggled to contain the Pelicans' offensive onslaught.

The Rockets showcased resilience throughout the game with significant contributions from their bench, which added an impressive 52 points to their total tally. The team's efficiency on fast breaks was notable as well; they converted 75 percent of such attempts into points, accumulating 22 fast break points in total. However, this was overshadowed by turnovers which plagued them throughout – totaling at 24 for the game – leading to only 13 points off turnovers.

Houston's shooting from beyond the arc was decent with a conversion rate of approximately 37 percent resulting in fifteen three-pointers made. Inside paint scoring also seemed promising as they made twenty out of thirty-six attempts translating into a success rate above fifty percent and accounting for forty points.

Defensively though, Houston faced challenges; they managed six steals and five blocks but allowed sixty-two points within their own paint. This defensive gap contributed significantly to their -22 plus/minus rating by game end.

On individual performance levels, there were bright spots despite defeat: The team's collective effort resulted in twenty-seven assists showcasing good ball movement when not marred by turnovers. Rebounding was another area where Houston held its ground with fifty-eight total rebounds including twelve offensive boards that led to fifteen second-chance points.

Conversely, New Orleans displayed remarkable efficiency both offensively and defensively during playtime leading for over forty-one minutes and achieving an efficiency rating notably higher than that of Houston’s. Their ability to convert opportunities into scores was evident through thirty-four forced turnovers resulting in thirty-four additional points for them while also dominating inside scoring sixty-two paint points compared to forty by Houston.
