First Inning

The opening inning saw both teams starting cautiously. The Jays managed to get two hits but failed to convert them into runs. Meanwhile, the Tigs were held hitless by Toronto's starting pitcher Max Scherzer, who showcased his prowess on the mound early on.

Third Inning

Detroit broke through in the third inning with three runs off three hits. Scherzer allowed one home run during this period but maintained control otherwise. The Birds struggled offensively and could not capitalize on their opportunities despite having runners on base.

Eighth Inning

A pivotal moment came during an explosive eighth inning for Detroit when they scored seven runs from seven hits and took advantage of one error committed by Toronto's defense. This offensive outburst put significant pressure on Toronto's bullpen and widened Detroit's lead substantially.
