In a game that saw the Brewers' bats come alive, they amassed a total of 12 hits. The offensive charge was led by an impressive performance that included two home runs, contributing to their seven runs batted in (RBI). The team's ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities was evident as they hit .350 with runners in scoring position (RISP), driving in seven runs from those chances.

Milwaukee's pitching staff had its share of ups and downs throughout the nine innings. Despite giving up five earned runs, they managed to strike out nine batters while walking seven. The bullpen proved effective late in the game, maintaining a perfect earned run average (ERA) over 4.1 innings pitched and securing both a hold and save for relievers Ryder Ryan and Trevor Megill respectively.

The Brewers showcased their speed on the base paths as well, stealing three bases with a success rate of one hundred percent. Defensively, Milwaukee was flawless with no errors recorded and eight assists contributed by fielders across various positions.

On the other side, the Pirates put up a valiant effort but fell short despite outscoring Milwaukee early with three runs in the first inning followed by two more in the fifth. Their hitters collected eight hits but struggled slightly more than their counterparts when it came to bringing runners home from scoring positions – hitting .286 RISP.

Pittsburgh's pitchers faced challenges containing Milwaukee's lineup; starter Aroldis Chapman suffered his second loss of the season after allowing five earned runs across his appearance on the mound.
