The Arizona Diamondbacks faced off against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park, resulting in a 7-2 victory for the home team. Diamondbacks Struggle Early

The game began with a strong showing from the Phillies, who capitalized on their opportunities early on. In the second inning alone, they managed to score 3 runs off of 5 hits. The third inning mirrored this performance as they added another 3 runs with just two hits. The Diamondbacks' starting pitcher Brandon Pfaadt had a challenging outing with an earned run average of 11.571 and allowed nine hits over his time on the mound.

Despite these setbacks, Arizona's bullpen showed resilience by holding Philadelphia scoreless for several innings after Pfaadt's exit. José Castillo and Scott McGough combined efforts in relief pitching without allowing any earned runs.

D-backs Attempt Comeback

Arizona's offense found some momentum in the seventh inning when Lourdes Gurriel Jr., who had been one of their standout performers with a batting average of .500 and two RBIs in this game, helped drive in two runs that narrowed Philadelphia’s lead slightly.

However, despite getting seven hits throughout nine innings and having players like Gabriel Moreno contribute significantly with his .500 batting average during this matchup as well – it wasn't enough for them to bridge that gap completely against Philly’s defense which remained steadfast throughout most parts of playtime.
