Eighth-Inning Effort

The Diamondbacks showed signs of life in the eighth inning when Corbin Carroll hit a solo home run, marking their only run of the game. Carroll's performance was notable as he achieved an impressive batting average of 1.000 with an on-base percentage of 1.0 and slugging percentage of 2.5 from his previous game stats.

However, throughout most of this matchup, Arizona struggled offensively against New York's pitching staff. The D-Backs managed only six hits across nine innings and left seven runners stranded on base. Alek Thomas contributed with two hits out of four at-bats but couldn't convert those opportunities into runs.

On defense, Merrill Kelly started strong for Arizona with an earned run average (ERA) of 4.263 over six innings pitched but eventually allowed three earned runs before being relieved by Jalen Beeks and José Castillo from their bullpen who collectively gave up four more runs during late innings.

Mets' Dominant Performance

The Mets capitalized on key moments throughout this contest starting from sixth inning onwards where they scored one run followed by two additional ones during seventh inning thanks largely due to timely hitting efforts led by Pete Alonso who had significant impact despite not recording any home runs himself today - instead relying heavily upon doubles which helped drive teammates around bases efficiently enough so that they could secure victory comfortably without much resistance coming back towards them later down stretch either defensively or offensively speaking overall too!

New York’s pitching lineup proved formidable against Arizona’s batters; holding them scoreless until late stages while also limiting damage done whenever possible through strategic use various relievers such as Edwin Díaz whose presence alone seemed enough deter any potential comeback attempts made thereafter especially considering how well-rested he appeared after having been given ample rest prior entering fray himself earlier than expected perhaps even surprising some fans watching closely nearby stands alike!
