First Inning

The game began with a promising start for the Diamondbacks as they quickly took control in the first inning. Alek Thomas and Ketel Marte set the tone with their aggressive hitting, contributing to an early lead of 2 runs on 3 hits. This initial burst showcased their potential and put pressure on the Cardinals' defense right from the outset.

Second to Fifth Innings

However, as innings progressed from second to fifth, both teams displayed solid defensive plays that kept scoring opportunities limited. The Snakes struggled to maintain their momentum after their strong opening inning, managing no runs and only sporadic hits during this stretch. Meanwhile, St. Louis managed to level up by scoring a run in both the first and third innings through strategic plays that capitalized on Arizona's pitching gaps.

Sixth Inning

In an attempt to regain control in the sixth inning, Arizona's offense sparked again when Lourdes Gurriel Jr.'s crucial hit brought home another run for his team. Despite this effort narrowing down St. Louis’ lead slightly, it was not enough as they failed to capitalize further with runners left stranded on base.
