Pirates Outlast Marlins in Extra Innings, Maintain Perfect Record

The Pittsburgh Pirates continued their undefeated streak with a 9-7 victory over the Miami Marlins. The Pirates now boast a 4-0 record, while the Marlins sit at 0-4. The game was decided in extra innings at loanDepot park.

The Pirates' offense was firing on all cylinders, accumulating 11 hits throughout the game. A pivotal moment came in the second inning when they scored three runs off four hits, setting an early tone for their offensive capabilities. Their performance peaked again in the seventh inning with another three-run burst from two hits that proved crucial to their win.

Defensively, the Pirates were just as impressive, committing no errors and displaying a perfect fielding percentage (1.0). Their pitchers also contributed significantly to the win; while starters had an ERA of 13.5 over four innings pitched, it was the bullpen that truly shined with an ERA of just 1.5 across six innings of work.

Clutch hitting was a theme for Pittsburgh as they managed five hits with runners in scoring position and drove in eight runs with two outs on the board – showcasing their ability to capitalize under pressure.

Onbase performance also stood out for Pittsburgh; they reached base on eleven singles and one home run while drawing seven walks which helped them achieve an on-base percentage (OBP) of .375 and leave twelve runners stranded throughout ten innings.

The Marlins put up a strong fight themselves, particularly during a first-inning rally where they scored five runs off three hits but ultimately could not sustain this momentum against Pittsburgh's relentless attack.

As fans look forward to more action from their team, they can mark their calendars for April 1st when the Pirates will face off against Washington Nationals at Nationals Park at 8:05 PM Eastern Time Zone. This game will be broadcasted live on SportsNet PT for fans eager to follow along as Pittsburgh aims to continue its winning ways into early April.
