The game unfolded under sunny skies with temperatures hovering around 63 degrees Fahrenheit. Despite these ideal playing conditions, the Pirates struggled to capitalize on their opportunities throughout the nine innings. The team managed to accumulate eight hits but only converted these into two runs. Their performance at bat was characterized by a .235 batting average and an on-base percentage of .250. Notably, they left seven runners on base and were unsuccessful in all five attempts with runners in scoring position.

On the pitching side, the Pirates' bullpen faced challenges as well. Overall, their pitchers allowed ten runs on thirteen hits over eight innings of work. The starting pitcher bore the brunt of this assault, surrendering nine earned runs and five home runs within just five innings pitched. This contributed significantly to an overall earned run average (ERA) of 11.25 for the game.
