The Pirates managed only five hits throughout the game. Their sole run came in the second inning when they recorded two hits. Despite this early spark, Pittsburgh's offense struggled to gain momentum for the remainder of the game.

On the mound for Pittsburgh, starter Carmen Mlodzinski pitched three innings and allowed one earned run on four hits with two strikeouts. The bullpen had a rough outing, giving up seven earned runs over six innings. Collectively, Pirates pitchers allowed 14 hits and issued three walks while striking out seven batters.

Atlanta's offense was consistent and relentless from start to finish. They scored in six different innings and accumulated a total of 14 hits. The third inning saw their first run cross home plate with another following in the fourth inning. A significant moment came during the fifth inning when they added two more runs to their tally.

The eighth and ninth innings were particularly productive for Atlanta as they scored four additional runs combined across these frames. Chris Sale secured his eighth win of the season by pitching effectively against Pittsburgh’s lineup.

Defensively, both teams played clean games without committing any errors; however, Atlanta’s ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities made all difference.

Looking ahead, fans can catch Pittsburgh's next game against Detroit Tigers on May 28 at Comerica Park in Detroit at 6:40 PM Eastern Time broadcasted on BSDET network.
