Will Pirates' Pitching Contain Tigers at Comerica Park?

As the Pittsburgh Pirates prepare to face the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park on May 28, 2024, fans are eager to see if their team can bounce back from recent performances. The game is scheduled for 6:40 PM ET and will be broadcast on BSDET.

The Pirates have had a mixed run in their last few games. In their most recent outing against the Atlanta Braves, they struggled offensively and defensively, losing 8-1. The team's batting average was a mere .156 with only one extra-base hit and five total hits. Their pitching also faltered significantly; the bullpen allowed seven earned runs over six innings with an ERA of 10.5.

However, there were some bright spots in previous games that could give fans hope. In another game against the Braves, the Pirates managed a solid win with an impressive offensive display scoring eleven runs on fourteen hits including seven extra-base hits. Their pitching was more stable in this match-up as well with an ERA of just 3.68 from their starters.

Comerica Park's dimensions could play a crucial role in this upcoming game. Known for its deep outfield fences, it often favors pitchers by limiting home runs—a factor that might benefit Pittsburgh’s struggling bullpen if they can keep balls in play rather than allowing long shots.

The Tigers have shown resilience recently but have also been inconsistent at times which opens up opportunities for the Pirates to capitalize on any weaknesses especially if they can tighten up both hitting and pitching aspects of their game.

Fans should tune into BSDET at 6:40 PM ET on May 28th to catch all the action live from Comerica Park as these two teams clash once again!
