Pirates' Offensive Efforts

Throughout the game, the Pirates managed to accumulate seven hits but struggled to convert these opportunities into runs. The team's batting average was a modest .200 for the game, with an on-base percentage (OBP) of .282 and a slugging percentage (SLG) of .286. Despite reaching base multiple times, Pittsburgh left 11 runners stranded and was only able to capitalize once during their nine innings at bat. The sole run came in the ninth inning, breaking what had been a scoreless outing for Pittsburgh up until that point.

Noteworthy performances included William Cook's exceptional hitting; he achieved an impressive batting average of .500 along with an OBP of .500 and led his team with an SLG of 1.25. On another positive note, Oneil Cruz also made significant contributions by posting a batting average of .333 and leading on-base efforts with an OBP of .600.

Reds Capitalize on Key Innings

On the opposing side, the Cincinnati Reds found their rhythm in two key innings that defined the game's outcome. A trio of runs both in the third and fourth innings set them ahead early on. Their ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities contrasted sharply with Pittsburgh's performance; they finished with nine hits and leveraged two home runs to solidify their lead.

The pitching staff for Pittsburgh had moments where they contained Cincinnati's lineup but ultimately conceded seven earned runs over eight innings pitched. Jared Jones started for Pittsburgh but encountered challenges early on which reflected in his ERA climbing to 10.8 after this outing.
