Pirates' Bats Silenced as Padres Prevail in PNC Park Duel

The Pittsburgh Pirates faced off against the San Diego Padres at PNC Park, resulting in a 4-0 victory for the visiting team. This game added another loss to the Pirates' record, bringing them to 12-23, while the Padres improved their standing to 22-11. Despite a strong attendance of 17,184 fans and a game duration of just over two and a half hours, the home team struggled to find their rhythm.

Pirates' Offensive Struggles

The Buccos were unable to capitalize on their opportunities throughout the game. With eight hits scattered across nine innings and leaving eight runners on base, they failed to score any runs. The team's batting average stood at .242 with an on-base percentage of .286. Notably, Matt Gorski was one of the few bright spots for Pittsburgh with an impressive performance at bat; he achieved a perfect batting average of 1.000 from his two appearances.

Ke'Bryan Hayes also contributed by maintaining an average of .500 during his time at bat. However, these individual efforts were not enough as other key players like Andrew McCutchen and Bryan Reynolds struggled offensively.

Padres Take Control Early

The Friars took control early in this matchup by scoring four runs within just two innings – one run came during inning number one followed by three more in inning number two thanks largely due to timely hitting from various members across their lineup including Juan Soto who managed multiple hits throughout this contest.

San Diego's pitching staff held firm against any potential comeback attempts made by Pittsburgh’s hitters; they allowed only eight total hits without giving up any earned runs or committing errors defensively which ultimately secured them another win under manager Bob Melvin’s leadership.
