Pirates' Performance

The Pittsburgh Pirates, currently holding a 13-27 record, faced off against the Atlanta Braves, who stand at 19-20. The Bucs showcased resilience throughout the game. Despite their efforts, they managed to score only in the third and eighth innings. In total, they accumulated nine hits but were unable to capitalize on several scoring opportunities as evidenced by their left-on-base count of 14. Their batting average for this game was .231 with an on-base percentage of .333.

Key performances came from players like Joey Bart who maintained a perfect batting average in his four at-bats during this matchup. Matt Gorski also contributed significantly with his .400 batting average over five appearances at the plate.

Braves' Response

The Bravos demonstrated efficiency despite having fewer hits than their opponents—five in total—but made them count when it mattered most. They scored one run each in the second and third innings before sealing victory with another run during extra innings.

Atlanta's pitching staff played a crucial role by limiting Pittsburgh’s offensive output effectively across eleven innings while maintaining composure under pressure situations such as bases-loaded scenarios or runners-in-scoring-position threats posed by opposing hitters like Bryan Reynolds or Andrew McCutchen whose bats remained silent throughout much of this encounter.
