Did Pirates' Ninth Inning Rally Fall Short Against Brewers at PNC Park?

The Pittsburgh Pirates faced off against the Milwaukee Brewers in a closely contested game at PNC Park. The Bucs, with a record of 17-34, were looking to improve their standing against the Brew Crew, who entered the game with a 25-26 record. Despite a valiant effort by the home team, they fell short with an 8-5 final score.

First Inning


The game began with an explosive start from the Brewers as they quickly put up 3 runs on the board in their first inning. The Pirates' starting pitcher struggled to contain Milwaukee's offense early on, allowing two hits and two walks that contributed to this initial surge. However, Pittsburgh responded promptly in their half of the inning when Bryan Reynolds managed to get on base and was driven home by Ke'Bryan Hayes’ timely hit, bringing one run across for the Buccos.


Middle Innings


As both teams settled into their rhythm during innings two through five, pitching became more dominant. The Pirates' starter found his groove after conceding early runs and managed to keep Milwaukee scoreless through these middle frames while striking out three batters over five innings pitched. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh's offense was stifled by solid pitching from Milwaukee’s starter who allowed only four hits during this stretch.

In inning four though Andrew McCutchen showcased his batting prowess once again as he reached base safely before being brought around thanks to Spencer Horwitz’s clutch single that added another run for Pittsburgh making it 4-2 still favoring Milwaukee heading into later innings.


Late Innings


The sixth inning saw both teams adding one more run each; however significant action unfolded during eighth when Brewer bats came alive yet again scoring three crucial insurance runs widening gap between them & hosts now trailing behind significantly at scoreline reading: MIL -7 PIT -3 entering ninth frame where drama ensued!

Pittsburgh refused give up without fight mounting spirited comeback attempt spearheaded primarily via Bryan Reynolds whose exceptional performance included multiple hits throughout contest culminating RBI double narrowing deficit further down just mere couple points separating sides momentarily raising hopes among fans present witnessing potential upset brewing right front eyes!
