Second Inning

In the second inning, both teams displayed defensive prowess, preventing any runs from being scored. The Pirates struggled to capitalize on opportunities with runners in scoring positions, leaving them stranded and unable to extend their lead.

Third Inning

The third inning saw another surge from the Buccos as they added another run through strategic hitting. Spencer Horwitz played a crucial role by getting on base and eventually scoring thanks to Nick Gonzales’ timely hit. This brought Gonzales’ batting average up to .500 for this game.

Fourth Through Sixth Innings

As the middle innings unfolded, both teams tightened their defenses significantly. The Pirates managed only 3 hits across these innings but failed to convert them into runs due to Baltimore's effective pitching and fielding strategies.

Seventh Inning

Baltimore responded in kind during the seventh inning by adding another run of their own through disciplined batting and exploiting gaps in Pittsburgh’s defense. Despite Johan Oviedo’s efforts on the mound with an ERA of 3.176, Baltimore found ways around him.

Eighth Through Ninth Innings

The final innings were tense as both teams vied for control of the game’s outcome. Although Bryan Reynolds had been poised for impact throughout this series, it was ultimately not enough against Baltimore's resilient defense which held firm under pressure.

Despite out-hitting the O's with 9 hits compared to Baltimore’s 7, Pittsburgh fell short with a final score of 3-2 favoring Baltimore (69-77). This result leaves Pittsburgh standing at a record of 64-83 after this encounter.
