First Inning

The game began quietly as both teams failed to score in the first inning. The Pirates' starting pitcher Wilber Dotel showed early control by allowing only two hits and maintaining a solid defense against the O's lineup.

Second Inning

In the second inning, the Buccos broke through with two runs without recording a hit. This was due to strategic base running and capitalizing on walks issued by Baltimore's pitching staff. Meanwhile, Baltimore managed one run off two hits but couldn't capitalize further.

Fifth Inning

The fifth inning proved pivotal for Pittsburgh as they exploded for six runs on four hits. Endy Rodríguez was instrumental during this surge, hitting a crucial home run that drove in three runs and shifted momentum firmly in favor of the Bucs. This offensive burst highlighted the Pirates vs Orioles turning point as it put significant pressure on Baltimore's bullpen.

Eighth Inning

As both teams entered later innings without adding more runs until Pittsburgh managed another hit in the eighth inning but failed to convert it into additional scores. Despite this lull, their earlier efforts had already secured them a comfortable lead.

Final Outcome

By game's end, Pirates pitching had limited Baltimore to just four hits while striking out seven batters across nine innings—a testament to their effective mound presence throughout all periods played today which contributed significantly towards achieving such an impressive result against formidable opponents like these Birds from Maryland!
