First Inning

The game began with both teams showing strong defensive plays. The Reds were unable to secure any hits or runs in their first inning, setting a tone for what would be a challenging day offensively. Meanwhile, the Pirates managed to get on board early with 1 run and 2 hits during their first turn at bat.

Third Inning

Cincinnati found some momentum in the third inning when they scored their only run of the game. This came from an impressive sequence where Spencer Steer contributed significantly by maintaining his batting average of .333 and an on-base percentage of .5 from previous performances. However, this effort was not enough to shift the game's momentum entirely as Pittsburgh's defense held strong.

Fourth Inning

In response, Pittsburgh added another run in the fourth inning through consistent hitting and strategic base running. The Reds' pitcher Brady Singer worked hard on defense but allowed this crucial run which put additional pressure on Cincinnati's lineup.

Sixth Inning

As both teams continued battling it out into later innings, Cincinnati struggled to capitalize on opportunities despite having players like Tyler Stephenson who had shown potential with his .333 average and high OPS from previous games. The sixth inning saw another hit for Cincinnati but no runs were added due to tight fielding by Pittsburgh.

Eighth Inning

Pittsburgh sealed their victory by scoring one more time in the eighth inning thanks to disciplined batting that exploited gaps left by Cincinnati’s bullpen strategy. Despite Graham Ashcraft’s efforts from past games where he maintained an ERA of 9.0 and WHIP of 2.0 over limited innings pitched, he couldn't prevent this final blow.

The match concluded after nine innings with no further scores from either side beyond what had already been established earlier in playtime – leaving fans reflecting on missed opportunities for 'the Big Red Machine'.
