First Inning

The game began with both teams struggling to find their rhythm offensively. The Reds managed just one hit, courtesy of TJ Friedl, but were unable to capitalize on it. Meanwhile, the Nats also went hitless in their first inning at-bat.

Fourth Inning

Cincinnati found some momentum in the fourth inning when Elly De La Cruz drove in their only run of the game with a single that brought Matt McLain home. However, this was quickly overshadowed by Washington's response as they scored one run off two hits.

Fifth and Sixth Innings

The fifth inning saw Washington take control of the game. They added two more runs on three hits against Reds' starter Chase Burns, who struggled throughout his outing with an ERA of 7.941 and allowed seven hits over five innings pitched.

In contrast, during these innings for Cincinnati's offense remained stagnant despite Spencer Steer's efforts at first base maintaining perfect fielding percentage and McLain’s solid .500 batting average from previous games not translating into further scoring opportunities here.

Eighth and Ninth Innings

As we moved into later stages like eighth & ninth innings; although Big Red Machine tried rallying back through multiple attempts including two additional hits - none resulted fruitful enough turning tide around due largely effective pitching displayed by Nats bullpen which kept them scoreless rest way through till final out recorded sealing victory firmly favor hosts instead!

This post-game report Reds highlights how crucial timely hitting can be alongside strong defensive plays ensuring success overall especially given tough competition faced such formidable opponents like Expos today proving themselves worthy adversaries indeed!
