White Sox's Rally in the Seventh Not Enough to Overcome Tigers at Comerica Park

The Chicago White Sox, with a record of 21-58, faced off against the Detroit Tigers, who held a record of 36-41, in what unfolded as a challenging game for both teams. The final score stood at 11-2 in favor of the Tigers.

The White Sox struggled to find their rhythm throughout most of the game, managing only five hits and committing one error. Their efforts culminated in the seventh inning when they scored their only two runs of the game. Despite this late rally and having three players left on base during critical moments, it wasn't enough to bridge the gap created by the Tigers' early lead.

On offense, Chicago's batting lineup faced difficulties against Detroit's pitchers. The team had an overall batting average of .156 with a slugging percentage of .188. They managed just one extra-base hit and had four chances with runners in scoring position but capitalized on only one occasion. This resulted in two runs batted in during situations with two outs.

Defensively, Chicago recorded seven assists and completed one double play but also made an error that contributed to their challenges on the field. Their fielding percentage for this game was .969.

The pitching staff for Chicago found themselves under pressure from Detroit’s hitters throughout the game. The bullpen pitched seven innings with an earned run average (ERA) of 3.857 but couldn't contain Detroit’s offense which tallied eleven runs by leveraging sixteen hits including four home runs against White Sox pitchers.

Detroit capitalized early on, scoring nine runs within the first two innings which set a tone that Chicago could not counteract effectively despite efforts from both their bullpen and starting pitcher who collectively faced forty-three batters over eight innings.

Looking ahead, fans can catch the next game between these two teams scheduled at Comerica Park in Detroit on June 22nd at 1:10 PM Eastern Time. This matchup will be broadcasted on NBCS-CHI for those looking to follow whether away or home team can make adjustments leading into this next encounter.
