First Inning

The opening inning set a tone of defensive prowess as both teams struggled to get on base. The White Sox were unable to capitalize on their opportunities, with no hits recorded in their initial attempts. Meanwhile, Baltimore also faced challenges breaking through Chicago's pitching, ending the inning scoreless.

Middle Innings

As the game progressed into the middle innings, both teams continued to exhibit strong defensive strategies. The third inning saw Chicago finally make contact with Andrew Benintendi leading off with a hit, but they couldn't convert it into runs due to Baltimore's tight fielding. On the other side, Baltimore managed only sporadic hits until they found momentum in the sixth inning.

Sixth Inning

The sixth inning proved pivotal for Baltimore as they broke through Chicago’s defenses. With three hits and two runs scored during this period, it was clear that their offensive lineup had found its stride against Chicago’s bullpen. Despite efforts from pitchers like Sean Burke who maintained an ERA of 3.0 in previous games, this surge gave Baltimore an edge that would prove decisive.

Final Innings

In response during the ninth inning, Chicago attempted a comeback when Edgar Quero contributed significantly by getting on base and eventually scoring one run for his team after two successful hits were made by others earlier in that half-inning. However, despite these efforts and maintaining pressure till late stages of playtime; it wasn’t enough as they fell short by just one run against resilient opponents from Maryland.
