White Sox's Eighth-Inning Surge Leaves Royals Reeling at Rate Field

First Inning

The Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals faced off at Rate Field, with the South Siders looking to improve their 21-43 record against the Boys in Blue's 33-31. The game began with both teams struggling to find their rhythm. The first inning saw no runs from either side, as both teams' pitchers held strong. Davis Martin, starting for the Sox, managed to keep the Royals' batters at bay with a solid performance on the mound.

Second Inning

In the second inning, Chicago began to show signs of life. Andrew Benintendi led off with a single and eventually scored thanks to strategic hitting by his teammates. This early run gave the White Sox a slight edge over K.C., who were unable to respond in kind during their turn at bat.

Third Inning

The third inning was marked by Kansas City's brief offensive burst. They managed two runs on two hits, briefly taking control of the game and putting pressure on Martin and his defense. However, despite this setback, Martin maintained composure and limited further damage.

Eighth Inning

The eighth inning proved pivotal for Chicago as they erupted for five runs that would ultimately seal their victory over Kansas City. Key contributions came from Luis Robert Jr., who showcased his hitting prowess alongside Mike Tauchman’s powerful swing that resulted in a home run—his first of this matchup—propelling them ahead decisively against an error-prone Royals defense which committed two costly mistakes during this frame alone.
