Brooklyn Nets erase a 23-point hole at Little Caesars Arena as Detroit Pistons fade in the fourth quarter

The Brooklyn Nets entered at 16-47 and the Detroit Pistons came in at 45-17, and the Nets left Little Caesars Arena with a 107-105 result in Detroit. The Borough posted 50 bench points and 10 blocks, and the Pistons finished with 14 steals and 21 assists in a game that featured 5 lead changes.

First quarter


The Nets opened with 19 points in the first quarter while the Pistons put up 32 points in the same frame. Detroit’s early control showed in a 23-point biggest lead, and the Nets answered with 53 total rebounds that began to steady the game after the opening run.


Second quarter


The Nets scored 27 points in the second quarter and the Pistons scored 30 points before halftime. Brooklyn leaned on 27 made free throws on 96 percent shooting at the line, while Detroit countered with 23 made free throws on 74 percent to keep separation going into the break.


Third quarter


The Nets matched their second-quarter output with 27 more points in the third quarter, and the Pistons were held to 22 points in the period. Brooklyn’s interior work produced 48 points in the paint, and the Pistons still got 46 points in the paint to keep the margin tight as the game moved late.


Fourth quarter


The Nets closed with 34 fourth-quarter points while the Pistons managed 21 in the final quarter, flipping the game despite Detroit leading for 42:51 of game time. Brooklyn’s late push included a 12-0 most-unanswered burst that turned 103-107 into the final margin, and the Nets paired that swing with 19 points off turnovers while Detroit recorded 21 points off turnovers on 14 total turnovers.


Michael Porter Jr. led the Nets with 30 points and 13 rebounds, and he added 2 steals in the win. Ziaire Williams supplied 23 points on 62 percent shooting, and Nic Claxton anchored the rim with 3 blocks. Day’Ron Sharpe added 13 points and 7 rebounds as Brooklyn kept pace on second chances with 20 points compared to Detroit’s 13.
