Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers: Did Josh Giddey’s 15 assists keep pace with second-chance points at Crypto.com Arena?

The Chicago Bulls came into 10:30 PM EDT at 27-39 and left Crypto.com Arena with a 142-130 Chicago Bulls full-time result against the the Los Angeles Lakers, who entered at 41-25.

First quarter


The Chicago Bulls opened with 26 points and matched the the Los Angeles Lakers at 26 as the game produced 5 ties and 10 lead changes.


The Bulls leaned on ball movement early with 34 assists in the game, and Josh Giddey’s previous-game line of 27 points and 15 assists reflected that facilitation role.


Second quarter


The Chicago Bulls put up 36 points in the second quarter, but the the Los Angeles Lakers answered with 41 to build separation.


The Bulls scored 66 points in the paint on 60 percent finishing inside the arc, while the Lakers generated 72 paint points on 67 percent at the rim.


The Bulls also hit 15 three-pointers at 42 percent, while the Lakers hit 17 at 47 percent as the perimeter trade tilted toward the Lake Show.


Third quarter


The Chicago Bulls again scored 36 points in the third quarter, and the the Los Angeles Lakers again posted 41 as the home side kept control after leading for 39:05.


The Bulls created 24 fast-break points on 65 percent, but the Lakers held the larger edge with 30 second-chance points on 14 offensive rebounds.


Chicago Bulls post-match stats showed 50 total rebounds and 16 turnovers, while the Lakers posted 50 rebounds and 10 turnovers to support 17 points off turnovers.


Fourth quarter


The Chicago Bulls scored 32 in the fourth quarter, but the the Los Angeles Lakers closed with 34 as Los Angeles finished the night with a 22-point biggest lead.


Josh Giddey’s previous-game 8 rebounds and 2 steals fit a Bulls effort that totaled 7 steals, while the Lakers countered with 9 steals and 4 blocks to protect their advantage.
