Indiana Pacers turn 36 assists and 18 threes into a Gainbridge Fieldhouse win over the Miami Heat

The Indiana Pacers moved to 17-58 with a 135-118 result over the Miami Heat, who entered at 39-36, at 5:00 PM EDT.

First quarter


The Pacers posted 34 in the opening quarter while the Heat opened with 36 behind a 46 field goal percent team mark for the game.


Indiana answered Miami’s early pace with 58 field goal percent and 46 three point percent overall to keep the margin tight after 1.


Second quarter


The Pacers’ 45-point second quarter flipped the game as Indiana piled up 36 assists for the night to stretch the floor and finish possessions.


Indiana’s bench produced 77 points, and that support helped build a 17-point biggest lead while Miami carried 30 bench points.


Pascal Siakam led Indiana’s scoring from the previous game with 30 points and added 11 rebounds and 6 assists.


Third quarter


The Heat scored 32 in the third and finished with 62 points in the paint, but the Pacers held control with 52 total rebounds and 3 offensive rebounds.


Indiana’s shot profile held up with 35 made two-pointers on 66 two point percent, and Miami countered with 33 made two-pointers on 53 two point percent.


Andrew Nembhard’s previous game line of 10 assists paired with 15 points, matching an Indiana offense that finished with a 126.499 offensive rating.


Fourth quarter


Miami was limited to 11 in the fourth quarter while Indiana put up 27, and the Pacers’ 18 made threes created separation as the Heat finished with 13.


The Heat committed 7 total turnovers, and Indiana finished with 7 points off turnovers while Miami scored 21 points off turnovers.


T.J. McConnell’s previous game production of 9 assists supported Indiana’s ball movement, and the Pacers closed the night with a 3.27 assist-to-turnover ratio.
