Grizzlies Stumble as Celtics Dominate at TD Garden: Memphis Falls to 18-33
In a display of sheer dominance, the Boston Celtics extended their impressive record to 38-12 after dismantling the Memphis Grizzlies with a final score of 131-91. The Grizzlies, now standing at 18-33, struggled to find their rhythm throughout the game.
From the opening quarter, it was clear that the Grizzlies were facing an uphill battle. They managed to put up 20 points in the first quarter and improved slightly in the second with 30 points. However, they couldn't sustain this momentum after halftime, adding only 26 and then a meager 15 points in the third and fourth quarters respectively.
The Celtics' defense proved too much for Memphis as they recorded five steals and four blocks over the course of play. This defensive pressure contributed to a total of twenty turnovers for Memphis which Boston capitalized on by scoring twenty-six points off these opportunities.
Offensively, Memphis shot just thirty-eight percent from field goal range and twenty-nine percent from beyond the arc despite attempting thirty-eight three-pointers. Their free throw accuracy was one positive aspect where they achieved an eighty-three percent success rate but only had twelve attempts compared to eighteen by Boston.
The rebounding battle was also won by Boston who collected sixty-one rebounds over Memphis's fifty-one. The disparity was particularly evident on offensive boards where Boston grabbed seventeen against sixteen by Memphis which translated into more second-chance points for the home team (eighteen versus nine).
Memphis did show some resilience in paint scoring thirty-eight points but again fell short of Boston's fifty-six. The efficiency rating further illustrated disparities between both teams; while Boston boasted an impressive one hundred seventy efficiency rating, Memphis lagged behind with seventy-nine.
As fans look ahead, they can catch their next glimpse of action when the Grizzlies visit Madison Square Garden to face off against New York Knicks on February 6th at 6:30 PM Central Time.
