Grizzlies Claw but Fall Short: Can Memphis Bounce Back After Timberwolves Encounter?

In a closely contested battle at the Target Center, the Memphis Grizzlies' record shifted to 20-39 after a hard-fought game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, who improved their standing to 42-17. The final score read 110-101 in favor of the home team.

The Grizzlies started strong, leading by as many as 14 points and maintaining control for nearly 27 minutes of game time. Their offensive efforts were spearheaded by an impressive display in the paint where they scored 48 points. The team's efficiency on fast breaks was notable with a success rate of 60 percent, translating into 15 fast break points.


Memphis also excelled at drawing fouls and capitalized on these opportunities, converting free throws at an outstanding rate of 90 percent. They demonstrated tenacity on the boards with a total rebound count of 59, which included grabbing an impressive number of offensive rebounds at 17. This effort led to scoring an additional 20 second-chance points.

Despite these efforts, turnovers proved costly for Memphis as they gave up possession a total of fifteen times which allowed Minnesota to score eighteen points off turnovers. Additionally, while their two-point field goal percentage was respectable at around half their attempts being successful (45 percent), their three-point shooting lagged behind at just under one-third (30 percent).


On defense, Memphis managed eight steals and blocked five shots but struggled to contain Minnesota's offense which shot nearly fifty percent from the field overall (49 percent). The Timberwolves also had success beyond the arc hitting forty percent from three-point range.

Looking ahead for Memphis fans eager to support their team in upcoming games; attention now turns back home where they will face off against Portland Trail Blazers at FedExForum in Memphis. This encounter is scheduled for March first at five o'clock PM Central Time and can be watched on networks including BSSE and ROOT Sports NW.


The Grizzlies will undoubtedly look to harness their strengths displayed against Minnesota - such as effective scoring inside and capitalizing on free throw opportunities - while shoring up areas that proved challenging like ball security and perimeter defense as they prepare for Portland's visit.
