Can the Grizzlies' Paint Domination Over Wizards Herald a Turnaround?

The Memphis Grizzlies, with a record of 23-43, emerged victorious over the Washington Wizards, who now stand at 11-54. The final score read 109-97 in favor of the home team at FedExForum.

The Grizzlies showcased their dominance inside by outscoring the Wizards in points in the paint with a significant margin. They managed to put up an impressive 66 points within this zone compared to the Wizards' 50. This was complemented by their ability to capitalize on second-chance opportunities, scoring 23 second-chance points off of an effective shooting percentage of 47 percent from those attempts.


Memphis also demonstrated a strong defensive performance by blocking seven shots and stealing the ball eight times from Washington. Their defensive efforts were reflected in holding their opponents to just under one point per possession while they themselves scored slightly above that mark.

On offense, Memphis was led by their bench which contributed a substantial 50 points, showcasing depth and versatility within their roster. Despite struggling from beyond the arc with only a 24 percent success rate on three-pointers, they maintained efficiency through aggressive play leading to more free throw attempts where they converted at an impressive rate of 81 percent.


The Grizzlies controlled much of the game as evidenced by leading for nearly all regulation time and establishing a commanding lead that peaked at 25 points. This control was further emphasized as they did not allow any lead changes or ties throughout the contest.
