In an intense matchup at the Frost Bank Center, the Grizzlies managed to claw their way back from a deficit to claim victory over the Spurs. The game was characterized by numerous lead changes and both teams fighting tooth and nail for every point. The Grizzlies showed resilience as they overcame a significant lead by the Spurs, who were ahead by as much as 17 points during the game.

The offensive efforts of Memphis were led by their ability to capitalize on turnovers, scoring 20 points off their opponent's mistakes. Defensively, Memphis held strong with ten steals and four blocks contributing to an overall defensive rating of about 91 points per hundred possessions. They also dominated on rebounds with a total count of 61 compared to San Antonio's tally of 63. This included securing nine offensive boards which led to seven second-chance points – critical in such a tight contest.

The bench played an essential role for Memphis too; contributing significantly with 34 bench points that helped sustain momentum when starters rested. Jaren Jackson Jr.'s presence was felt across both ends of the court as he contributed heavily towards those numbers.

On the other side, despite outscoring Memphis in fast-break situations (24 fast break points) and having higher efficiency inside paint (52 paint points), San Antonio could not maintain their early advantage due largely to turnovers which allowed Memphis crucial extra possessions.

As time expired on this closely contested battle between Western Conference rivals, it was clear that every possession had mattered greatly – evidenced by eight times tied and fifteen lead changes throughout all four quarters.
