Memphis Grizzlies Outscored by Los Angeles Lakers in High-Octane Showdown at FedExForum

The Memphis Grizzlies, with a record of 24-49, faced off against the Los Angeles Lakers who held a 41-32 record in an intense game that concluded with a final score of 136-124. Despite the loss, the Grizzlies showcased their resilience and fighting spirit on their home court at FedExForum.

The game was marked by several lead changes and both teams were tied four times throughout the match. The Lakers managed to secure a significant lead with their highest advantage being 27 points. They dominated possession for over 43 minutes, while the Grizzlies led for just under three minutes. The visiting team's largest unanswered scoring run was nine points, which shifted momentum in their favor.


The Memphis team put up an impressive fight in terms of statistics. They recorded ten steals and three blocks during the game, demonstrating their defensive capabilities. Their bench contributed significantly with 54 bench points compared to the Lakers' 31. In terms of shooting efficiency, they made 46 out of 97 field goal attempts resulting in a field goal percentage of about 47 percent and hit seventeen out of forty-three attempts from beyond the arc which translates to approximately forty percent success rate from three-point range.

Furthermore, they excelled in generating second-chance opportunities by scoring eighteen second-chance points from twelve attempts and maintained an effective free throw percentage close to seventy-nine percent by making fifteen out of nineteen shots from the line.


Despite these efforts, turnovers proved costly for Memphis as they gave up fourteen turnovers leading to seventeen points for Los Angeles. Additionally, while both teams had similar numbers regarding possessions – MEM having around one hundred six – it was LAL's offensive execution that stood out as they scored twenty-two points off turnovers.
