Can Memphis Grizzlies' Early Lead Hold Against Oklahoma City Thunder's Late Surge at FedExForum?

Grizzlies' Strong Start


The Grizzlies came out strong in the first half, establishing an early lead by scoring 40 points in the first quarter and adding another 37 in the second quarter. This impressive start was highlighted by Scotty Pippen Jr., who contributed significantly with his all-around performance, scoring 28 points and adding five assists and five rebounds. Jaren Jackson Jr. also played a pivotal role, contributing 22 points and seven rebounds while maintaining an efficient field goal percentage of 44 percent.


Despite their initial dominance, Memphis struggled to maintain momentum after halftime. Their third-quarter performance saw them score only 18 points as they faced increased defensive pressure from OKC. The team's shooting efficiency dropped during this period, allowing their opponents to close in on their lead.

Thunder's Comeback


The Oklahoma City Thunder capitalized on Memphis' struggles by mounting an impressive comeback in the second half. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led OKC's charge with his dynamic playmaking abilities that resulted in crucial assists during key moments of play. The team scored a remarkable total of 36 points during this decisive third quarter alone.


OKC continued its offensive push into the final quarter where they added another solid performance with contributions from Josh Giddey who provided essential support through his effective passing game which helped secure victory for his team despite being down earlier on.
