From the opening tip-off at the Smoothie King Center, the home team set an aggressive tone. The Pelicans' offense was firing on all cylinders as they put up an impressive 31 points in the first quarter and maintained their scoring momentum throughout the game. The second quarter saw them add another 37 points to their tally, demonstrating their ability to sustain offensive pressure.

The New Orleans Pelicans' performance was marked by remarkable shooting efficiency from inside the arc where they shot an astounding 70 percent on two-point attempts. This inside dominance contributed significantly to their total of 74 points in paint. Their bench also played a critical role by contributing a substantial 37 points to help secure this win.

Defensively, while both teams struggled to contain each other's offenses as evidenced by high scores on both sides, it was ultimately the Pelican's ability to force turnovers that made a difference. With relentless defensive pressure leading to 14 steals and capitalizing on those opportunities with 25 points off turnovers, they were able to maintain control for nearly thirty-six minutes of gameplay time.

On top of that defensive hustle was an efficient passing game that led to accumulating more assists than turnovers – boasting an assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.6 which speaks volumes about their playmaking acumen during this matchup.

The Wizards did not go down without a fight though; they managed to sink half of their second-chance shots resulting in 21 second-chance points and kept pace with three-point shooting at nearly half accuracy rate (47 percent). Their biggest lead may have been just six points but they showed tenacity through nine lead changes and seven instances where the score was tied.

Despite these efforts from Washington's side including significant contributions from their bench who added thirty points overall – it wasn't enough against a determined New Orleans squad playing before an enthusiastic crowd numbering over eighteen thousand fans.
