Defensively, New Orleans held Miami to just under one point per possession while maintaining over one point per possession themselves on offense. They limited Miami's scoring opportunities effectively throughout the game which is reflected in their opponent's shooting percentages; Miami shot only at a rate from two-point range and struggled even more from three-point land.

A key factor in this matchup was New Orleans' ability to maintain control despite turnovers. They managed to keep these numbers low while forcing more turnovers by Miami which resulted in additional scoring opportunities for themselves.
