Pelicans' Flight Halted by Trail Blazers at Smoothie King Center

In a closely contested Regular Season NBA game at the Smoothie King Center, the New Orleans Pelicans faced off against the Portland Trail Blazers. Despite a valiant effort, the Pelicans fell short with a final score of 100-118. This outcome leaves both teams with identical records of 3-5 for the season.

Key Performances and Game Dynamics


The game was characterized by its intense back-and-forth action, evidenced by nine lead changes and three instances where the score was tied. The Trail Blazers managed to secure their victory in part due to their impressive shooting accuracy from both inside and outside the paint, achieving a field goal percentage of 55 percent compared to the Pelicans' 45 percent.


For the New Orleans Pelicans, Brandon Ingram stood out with an impressive performance scoring 27 points, dishing out seven assists, and grabbing five rebounds. Jose Alvarado also made significant contributions with 18 points and six assists but struggled from beyond the arc hitting only one-third of his three-point attempts. Jeremiah Robinson-Earl added valuable minutes off the bench contributing 12 points on an efficient shooting night.

On defense, however, both teams had their challenges. The Pelicans allowed 118 points against them while managing to block only three shots throughout the game. In contrast, despite their offensive success, Portland's defensive efforts resulted in five blocks and ten steals which contributed to their win.
