Pelicans' Effort Falls Short Against Trail Blazers' Offensive Onslaught

In a recent face-off at the Smoothie King Center, the New Orleans Pelicans and the Portland Trail Blazers showcased a high-energy game that ended with the Trail Blazers securing a victory with a score of 119-100. This outcome brings the Pelicans to a 7-31 record for the season, while the Trail Blazers improve to 13-23.

Pelicans' Highlights


Despite falling behind early in the game and never leading, there were notable performances from several Pelicans players. CJ McCollum led his team with an impressive 23 points, backed by his efficient shooting from both inside and beyond the arc. Dejounte Murray also made significant contributions with 20 points and five assists, demonstrating his versatility on offense.


The bench played a crucial role in keeping the game competitive, contributing a total of 53 points. Among them, Jordan Hawkins added 10 points to the scoreboard. The team's effort was evident in their rebounding as they collected 46 rebounds throughout the game, including an aggressive pursuit for offensive boards resulting in 18 offensive rebounds.


Trail Blazers' Dominance


The Portland Trail Blazers displayed remarkable efficiency on offense. Their field goal percentage stood at an impressive 54 percent for the game, significantly higher than that of their opponents. They also excelled in scoring within paint and capitalized on fast-break opportunities which contributed to their biggest lead of 33 points during playtime.


Defensively, Portland managed to block seven shots and steal eleven times from New Orleans Pelicans players which disrupted many scoring attempts by their opponents. Their defensive efforts limited New Orleans Pelicans’ ability to find rhythm offensively despite having moments of brilliance.
