Can Pelicans' Late Surge Overcome Nets' Dominance at Barclays Center?

In a closely contested battle at the Barclays Center, the New Orleans Pelicans fell short against the Brooklyn Nets with a final score of 114-119. This result moves the Pelicans to a 21-58 record for the season, while the Nets improve to 26-53. Despite a spirited comeback in the fourth quarter where they outscored their opponents 35-22, it wasn't enough to secure victory.

Pelicans' Standout Performances


Amongst individual performances for the New Orleans Pelicans, Karlo Matkovic and Antonio Reeves shared top scoring honors with 17 points each. Matkovic also contributed significantly on defense with two blocks and one steal, showcasing his all-around game. His shooting efficiency was impressive as well, making 73 percent of his shots from the field. Reeves matched this scoring output with an equally efficient night from beyond the arc, hitting 40 percent of his three-point attempts.


Jose Alvarado also made notable contributions with 16 points and four assists. His defensive efforts were highlighted by two steals, although his overall shooting percentage stood at just 36 percent for the night.

Nets' Key Players Shine


On the opposing side, The Brooklyn Nets capitalized on their balanced attack and bench depth to secure their win. Their bench contributed a significant 66 points to their total score. The team's efficiency was evident in their shooting percentages across various metrics – they hit an impressive 42 percent from three-point range and maintained an overall field goal percentage of 49 percent.


The third quarter proved pivotal for The Nets as they amassed an imposing lead by outscoring The Pelicans by a staggering margin of 43-26 during this period alone.
