From tip-off, the Oklahoma City Thunder took control of the game, outscoring the Pelicans in each quarter. The first quarter ended with a significant lead for the Thunder at 35-22, setting an early tone for what would be a dominant performance throughout. The second quarter saw both teams neck and neck in scoring, but it was still enough to maintain a comfortable lead for Oklahoma City with both teams adding 28 points to their tallies.

The home team's efficiency was on full display as they shot an outstanding 59 percent from field goals and an even more impressive 48 percent from beyond the arc. Their two-point attempts were particularly effective with a success rate of 65 percent. This high conversion rate contributed significantly to their points in paint total which stood at an imposing figure of 48 by game end.

Oklahoma City also excelled in ball movement and creating scoring opportunities as evidenced by their tally of assists which reached 25 for this encounter. Their ability to take care of possession was highlighted by only committing nine turnovers compared to eighteen by New Orleans, resulting in twenty-two points off turnovers for Oklahoma City.

Defensively, both teams managed two blocks each; however, it was Oklahoma City's five steals that helped them maintain pressure on New Orleans throughout all four quarters. The defensive effort held New Orleans to just six fast break points while Oklahoma themselves capitalized on such opportunities scoring fourteen fast break points.
