Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets: Who Dominated the Paint?

In a closely contested match that went into overtime, the Oklahoma City Thunder fell short against the Houston Rockets with a final score of 113-122. Game Highlights


The Thunder led for a significant portion of the game, clocking in 40:44 minutes of lead time with their biggest advantage being a 16-point lead. However, the Rockets managed to claw back into contention and forced an overtime period where they outscored the home team by nine points. Key to this comeback was their performance in overtime and their ability to capitalize on second-chance points, scoring 21 compared to Thunder's eight.


Oklahoma City showcased its strength inside by dominating points in the paint with a total of 52 points versus Houston's 48. Despite this effort, shooting inefficiencies plagued them throughout; they shot only 42 percent from field goals and struggled from beyond the arc with a mere 29 percent success rate.

Player Performances


Shai Gilgeous-Alexander stood out for Oklahoma City with an impressive stat line including scoring fifteen points on an efficient shooting night where he made seventy-one percent of his shots from field goals and was perfect from both three-point range and free throw line. His overall contribution was marked by six assists and two rebounds alongside one block.


Another notable performance came from Isaiah Hartenstein who contributed across various facets for Oklahoma City; he scored six points while grabbing nine rebounds (leading his team) along with three assists and one block which underscored his all-around impact during his time on court.

For Houston, it was truly a team effort as evidenced by their bench contributing significantly with sixty-three bench points indicating depth in talent that played a crucial role especially during extended playtime in overtime.


As both teams battled fiercely through regulation time leading up to an intense overtime showdown, it became evident that turnovers were critical; Oklahoma City committed fourteen turnovers which translated into fifteen points off turnovers for Houston - highlighting areas for improvement for Thunder moving forward.
