Can the Wizards Turn the Tide After Narrow Loss to Mavericks?

The Washington Wizards, with a record of 9-44, faced off against the Dallas Mavericks, standing at 31-23. The final scoreboard read 112-104 in favor of the home team at American Airlines Center.

The Wizards entered the game with determination, starting strong with a first-quarter score of 22 points. They ramped up their offense in the second quarter, adding an impressive 36 points to their tally. By halftime, it was clear that they were not going down without a fight. The third quarter saw them maintaining momentum and scoring another robust 30 points.


Despite their efforts and leading for nearly half an hour of game time with a biggest lead of 11 points, the fourth quarter proved challenging for Washington as they could only muster up 16 additional points to their total score. The team's efficiency rating stood at a notable 96 by game's end.

Washington's offensive stats were highlighted by scoring half of their fast break attempts resulting in 20 fast break points and dominating inside with an impressive tally of 66 paint points from a total paint attempt count that exceeded outside shots. Their two-point shooting was consistent throughout the night as they made half out of their numerous attempts from within this range.


On defense, Washington managed to block seven shots but struggled to contain Dallas' offense which had better overall field goal accuracy at forty-five percent compared to Washington's forty-two percent. Moreover, despite pulling down more rebounds than Dallas with a total count of sixty-six including fifty-two personal rebounds and fourteen team rebounds; it wasn't enough to secure victory.
