Washington Wizards Overcome Charlotte Hornets 112-100 in a Resilient Home Performance

The Washington Wizards, with a record of 10-53, hosted the Charlotte Hornets, who came into the game with a 15-48 tally. In an impressive display at Capital One Arena, the Wizards outscored their opponents with a final score of 112-100. The Washington Wizards showcased their offensive capabilities by dominating in points in the paint with a total of 66 compared to the Hornets' 48. The home team's shooting accuracy was on point as they achieved a field goal percentage of 49 and were particularly effective from two-point range, hitting an impressive 68 percent of their attempts. This sharpshooting contributed to their largest lead of the game being an encouraging 15 points.


Defensively, the Wizards also stepped up by blocking more shots than their opponents; they tallied up to 11 blocks against just five from the Hornets. Their defensive efforts limited Charlotte's scoring opportunities and were crucial in maintaining control throughout most of the match as they led for over half an hour.

On top of that, Washington excelled at drawing fouls and capitalized on these opportunities by making 87 percent of free throws awarded – sinking in total twenty shots from the charity stripe. Their bench players made substantial contributions too, adding a combined total of thirty-four points which played a pivotal role in securing this win.


Despite trailing behind for some time during playtime due to Charlotte's tenacity and ability to take advantage when leading – which lasted over eleven minutes – it was ultimately Washington’s night as they turned things around spectacularly during crunch time.

The Hornets did put up resistance; they managed nine fast break points and nineteen second-chance points but struggled beyond-the-arc only converting twenty-one percent from three-point land. They also had less possession overall compared to Washington which may have impacted their ability to close down on leads effectively throughout this matchup.
