Wizards' Magic Fades Against Rockets' Launch in High-Scoring Duel

The Washington Wizards, with a record of 11-55, faced off against the Houston Rockets, who held a 31-35 record. The final score read 135-119 in favor of the home team at Toyota Center.

The Wizards opened the game with a strong first quarter, putting up 31 points to the Rockets' 33. However, they fell behind in the second quarter as Houston surged ahead with an impressive 42 points to Washington's 25. After halftime, the Wizards came out determined and racked up an impressive 39 points in the third quarter but still trailed as their defense allowed Houston to score another hefty sum of 35 points. The final period saw both teams add to their tallies with Washington scoring another solid chunk of points at 24 while Houston maintained their lead by adding another set of points at 25.


Washington's offense was led by dynamic plays that resulted in a field goal percentage of fifty percent and a free throw percentage rounding up to seventy-nine percent. They also showed prowess inside by scoring fifty-eight paint points on sixty-two percent shooting from that area. Despite these efforts, they were outrebounded thirty-seven to fifty-two and struggled defensively throughout the game.

The Wizards managed eleven steals and two blocks but could not contain Houston's offensive onslaught which boasted an effective field goal percentage of sixty-six percent and an even more remarkable true shooting percentage rounding up to seventy percent. The Rockets also capitalized on fast-break opportunities scoring twenty-five fast break points on sixty-nine percent shooting during those attempts.


Houston's largest lead was twenty-four compared to Washington’s brief advantage peaking at just two. Time leading was heavily skewed towards the home team as well; they controlled most of this aspect for nearly forty-five minutes compared to less than one minute for Washington.
