Did the Wizards' Early Lead Against the Hornets Slip Away in Charlotte?

First Quarter

The Washington Wizards started strong against the Charlotte Hornets at Spectrum Center, taking an early lead with a 31-24 advantage. CJ McCollum and Bilal Coulibaly were instrumental in setting the pace for DC, contributing significantly to their team's initial momentum. The Wiz capitalized on their offensive opportunities, showcasing a solid field goal percentage of 41 percent.

Second Quarter

As the game progressed into the second quarter, both teams intensified their efforts. The Hornets responded with a robust performance, outscoring DC 38-34. Despite this push from Buzz City, Marvin Bagley III stood out for his efficiency on court for Washington. His contribution was crucial as he maintained high shooting accuracy and added valuable points to keep his team competitive.

Third Quarter

In the third quarter, Charlotte continued to build on their momentum by scoring 30 points compared to Washington's 25. The Hive's defense tightened up significantly during this period, limiting DC's fast break opportunities and forcing turnovers that they converted into points off turnovers.

Fourth Quarter

The final quarter saw Charlotte pulling away decisively with a score of 34-19 over Washington. Despite Alex Sarr’s defensive efforts including four blocks throughout the game and Justin Champagnie's nine rebounds aiding in second-chance points for DC, it wasn't enough to close the gap created by Buzz City's consistent scoring across all quarters.

Ultimately, Charlotte secured victory with a final score of 126-109 over Washington Wizards who now hold a record of 5-23 while Buzz City improves theirs to 10-20.

For fans looking forward to more action from DC: mark your calendars! Their next matchup is set against Toronto Raptors at Capital One Arena on December 26th at 7:00 PM EDT; catch it live on SportsNet or MNMT TV networks.
