First quarter


The Washington Wizards put up 29 in the opening quarter, but the the Miami Heat hit 40 to set control early with 5 times tied and 0 lead changes overall. The Heat’s defense created 16 steals in the game, and Miami turned those takeaways into 31 points off turnovers while the Wizards finished with 24 total turnovers.


Second quarter


The Wizards scored 33 in the second quarter while the Heat added 36, and Miami’s rim pressure showed up in 59 free throw attempts compared to Washington’s 29. The Wizards still produced efficient shooting stretches with 52 field goal percent and 42 three-point percent, and Alex Sarr’s 28 points led DC’s scoring pace.


Third quarter


Washington posted its best quarter at 35, but Miami answered with 37 while winning the possession battle on the glass with 61 total rebounds and 15 offensive rebounds. The Heat also stacked 64 points in the paint, and that interior production offset their 30 three-point percent on 43 attempts as the 305 kept the margin steady.


Fourth quarter


The Wizards closed with 32 in the fourth quarter, yet the Heat matched with 37 behind 31 assists and 22 fast break points on 16 fast break attempts. Washington’s offense finished with 25 assists and 40 bench points, and Bilal Coulibaly’s 7 assists supported ball movement even as Miami’s pressure kept the game tilted.
