First Quarter

The opening quarter saw the Cougars take an early lead, scoring 10 points while keeping the Sun Devils scoreless. Conner Weigman showcased his precision passing skills by completing 77 percent of his passes for a total of 201 yards throughout the game. His connection with tight end Tanner Koziol was particularly effective, resulting in one touchdown and several crucial first downs.

Second Quarter

The second quarter was marked by defensive resilience from both teams as neither side managed to add points to their tally. The Coogs' defense was relentless, led by standout performances from Eddie Walls and Brandon Mack II, who combined for four sacks and multiple tackles for loss.

Third Quarter

In the third quarter, Houston's offense found its rhythm again, adding another 14 points to their lead. Weigman's dual-threat capability shone through as he rushed for two touchdowns himself. Dean Connors contributed significantly on the ground with consistent gains that kept drives alive.

Fourth Quarter

Despite a late surge from Arizona State in the fourth quarter where they scored all their points, it wasn't enough to overcome Houston's earlier dominance. The Coogs' defense held strong under pressure; Latrell McCutchin forced a fumble that Will James recovered—one of several game-changing plays Houston Cougars vs Arizona State Sun Devils executed effectively.

Houston coach expressed satisfaction post-game about his team's performance: "Our guys played hard on both sides of the ball today," he said during his post-game reaction interview.

Looking ahead, fans can catch more action when Houston hosts West Virginia Mountaineers at TDECU Stadium on November 1st at 1:00 PM EDT. Be sure not to miss it!
