First Quarter

The opening quarter saw both teams come out strong. The Mountaineers took an early lead with two touchdowns, putting up 14 points on the board. However, the Cougars responded with their own touchdown drive led by quarterback Conner Weigman. His precise passing set up an early score for Houston.

Second Quarter

In the second quarter, Houston's offense found its rhythm as Weigman connected with wide receiver Amare Thomas for one of his three touchdowns on the day. The Coogs managed to level things up at halftime thanks to their efficient red zone execution and solid receiving corps.

Third Quarter

As play resumed after halftime, West Virginia capitalized on turnovers from Houston's side. Despite this setback, Weigman's resilience was evident as he continued to find his targets downfield. However, WVU managed to edge ahead by adding another field goal and touchdown during this period.

Fourth Quarter

The final quarter saw both teams trading blows in what became an offensive showcase. While Thomas continued his stellar performance for Houston with multiple receptions leading to scores, it wasn't enough to overcome WVU’s ground attack which sealed their victory late in the game.
